Vision: Face the Message

Vision: Face the Message

2nd February 2014

I saw this vision a few days ago.

I saw these people facing daily drudgery, and now having zero expectation from the world around them, be it religious or other; these folk began to speak to the Lord, “Is this it? “They asked Him, “Is this really all there is ….?”

I saw that these  people were going about their daily routines, commuting the same route, participating in joyless activities, always pushed around by the crowds, now this way, now another.

Crowds crowds crowds.

Leaders spoke at them, salesmen spoke at them, and they didn't know the difference. No message or messenger spoke to them.

All day long they were faced with varied multitudes speaking on behalf of the Lord. These contradictory messages filled them with conflicting emotions. Some messages had thrust them into a flurry of short-lived excitement and activity. Other messages had so plunged them in doubt, despair and pessimism that to do anything at all caused them fear.

And now in this insufferable period of repetitious joylessness, they faced the drone of one more life-less message.

Suddenly, these people looked scared. They were momentarily overcome by a strange dread.

They began to wonder if this cheerlessness was going to be as a life sentence, they were condemned to serve? They spoke to the Lord. “Is this it? “They asked Him, “Is this really all there is ….?”

Deep within, these folk had hoped to hear a message that would uplift them, a message that would annihilate their spiraling cynicism. But now here they were, faced once again with the uninspiring and the uninspired.

And the people despaired. They asked God, “Lord, are we to face this every day?  Where’s the  message?”

All of a sudden, they heard the Reply, “Face the message”.

As they lifted their eyes from the mundane, the stony cynicism that covered their hearts, rapidly melted.

As if out of nowhere, other faces appeared on the horizon. These faces shone brightly. Wheresoever these faces appeared, the environment brightened and they left behind a fragrance. These faces looked wise, devoid of angst. Their demeanor was attentive but clearly conveyed that they were not seeking attention. They looked fearless, bold and moved cheerfully, guided by an inner joy.

As the people observed these faces, their bodies slumped. Questions flooded their minds. Where had these faces got hold of this glow, this brightness, this lightness, this wisdom, this freedom, this inexplicable joy love and fragrance that they carried?

And these people whispered to themselves, " These are the faces of those who KNOW God!".

The Lord had instructed the people to “face the message”.  Where was the message? These faces did not speak to them, but had left the people feeling envy; an envy that troubled them enough to want to ponder. The kind of envy that had them yearning for all that these shining faces had. The kind of holy envy that would make these people run to the Giver, Christ Jesus King of Kings.

These people understood, that day after day, they had allowed the despair and cynicism to take root in them, unchallenged. They had forgotten His Word, “Ask and you shall receive”. They had not asked. But now these shining faces had so filled them with a holy envy that they were running to the Lord and shouting along the way, “I want what they have, I want what You gave them…… I want You Lord, I want your Presence…….I need You Lord …….I have wasted my life, no more no more.....I want YOU Lord........”

The shining faces spoke not a word, but the people understood the message the Lord had Sent. They saw the difference between those who truly served the Lord, and those who did not.

These shining faces, these disciples of Christ, had delivered no message, but their very appearance had left the people who were called to observe them, hungering for God.

Not their words, but their shining faces revealed the message.

In these times, the Lord is Sending those with shining faces into the lives of people, such as described in this vision; people who have become hardened by cynicism.

These shining faces, unbeknownst to them, will be divinely veered, to make a brief, seemingly random  appearance in the lives of people who had allowed the dry and unfruitful spiritual climate around them, to spiral into cynicism.

These shining faces will preach no message to them.

Yet, a cry of holy envy and spiritual hunger and longing, will be heard in the land of the cynics!

These are the times when cynics will be called to “face the message”.
