Vision: Eagles and the Cannons

Vision: Eagles and the Cannons

8th February 2014

I saw eagles flying at a height, they had never flown before. They had been called to soar, to ascend higher than ever before, and when they reached that altitude, they were to be absolutely still. The eagles obeyed. Though their wings were widely spread, as if ready to move, the atmosphere in which they were was not conducive to flying but only to stillness. The eagles remained in this stillness, and could not remember how long they had been there, as they had lost all sense of time. Time did not seem to matter.

Suddenly, they were commanded to listen. They heard a peculiar sound such as they had not heard before. It was the sound of grinding teeth! They were shown what had been assembling below, whilst they had been resting above.

A multitude had gathered below, and they were grinding their teeth in unison, these people with their heads tilted upwards, had one arm shielding their eyes, and the other in a tightly clenched fist by their sides. Collectively they had brought every known weapon, and given them to the cannon masters, who operated the cannons. These ‘masters’ had constructed giant-sized cannons which were firing missives and missiles at these majestic eagles. They had fired all the assembled weapons collectively, through these cannons. Yet, no weapon touched the eagles. Try as they did they could not reach the place the eagles now inhabited.

The eagles could not understand why there was such a concerted effort to harm them. They were at a high altitude, by invitation, and were in a place of absolute rest. How was that bothering those down below?

The eagles were made to understand that the people were blinded by the brightness from their wings, and this was causing them to grind their teeth and clench their fist, and fire the cannons.

These eagles had never before had such brightness in their wings. And never before had they such a multitude of enemies. When instructed to look closely into the faces of the enemies, the eagles realized to their horror, that these were people they had known for years as their friends.

The eagles were shocked. The grinding teeth, the clenched fists, and cannons firing were coming from those they had thought they knew closely.

The eagles alone were not the only targets. Wheresoever and through whomsoever, wisdom was displayed, be it in wise counsel or decisions, or plans, or directions taken by the wise, out of their own friend circle would arise those who would be enraged by their God given wisdom. The brightness of the wisdom in the wise would cause their enemies to seethe. These friends-turned-foes would load their cannons, with rage and venom, and try their utmost to shoot down the carriers of wisdom. They had become intolerant of wise living.

This was the time, for the foolish and those who nursed foolishness in their hearts to expend their energies, in trying to hurt the wise, this time not hidden, but openly, for all to see. This was the time, such people would attempt, with their specially constructed cannons,  to shoot down the wise and those that brought them  messages of wisdom from God.

These friends-turned-foes will not succeed, but they will be found out.

Proverbs 1:2-7

2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
