My teenage son and I were cutting down trees and vines in our backyard and discussing all things apocalyptic. I was trying to steer the conversation towards practical holy living in the End Times. David is a great kid; accomplished athlete, honor student, etc and growing up very fast.

I was about to quote from 2 Peter, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away…the elements melt with fervent heat”, and so on. “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness…”

Suddenly, out of left field, my son quips, “Dad, there’s one thing I fear even more than God’s wrath.” I gave him a blank stare as if to ask, “Wha..? He grinned and said, “I fear his sense of humor!”

I had to put down the long handled shears lest I injure myself laughing.

No matter what the circumstance, feast or famine, life or death, God still loves the world and loves those who love his appearing. My son reminded me that no matter how dark the world may become, God still has a sense of humor.
