I thought I'd take this opportunity to share some facts. It's not the usual 'America bashing'.Americans don't need more bashing as they've done enough of it themselves already. But facts are facts and they tell a story as well.Having said that, I have many American friends and I love them deeply. However, it may be interesting to note how others view America through the portal of 'facts'.

(1) A few hours ago, Al Gore told the United Nations Climate Change conference in Bali that you and I know that my nation is principally responsible for obstructing what this Climate Change conference is trying to achieve. I'm pretty sure you can watch it on CNN or BBC. Climate Change is caused by Greenhouse Gasses and the USA has so far refused to be a signatory of the Kyoto Protocol. The majority of the world's nations have signed this treaty but it looks like its going to take a few more Katrinas to make USA want to sign (or of course a change in thinking when the next President is elected!). The most industrialized nation on earth refuses to take responsibility for the global disaster of Global Warming. I think this is saying something.

(2) I went to the Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, Korea twice, within the past 4 weeks, and I was struck by the zeal of the Koreans waiting an hour in the winter cold to queue up to enter to worship the LORD. (basically, if you don’t queue – you just can't get a seat âs its fully packed down to the last seat!). This church now has an 800,000 membership and the Senior Pastor does not have a private jet or a Rolls Royce. Furthermore, an American pastor based in Seoul told me the big difference between the Korean church and the American church is that the Koreans are taught to pray until they feel a breakthrough is accomplished in the supernatural realm while the Americans just mutter a short prayer and expect God to come running as Mr Fix-It-All.This is also saying a lot..


(3) In the last few years, the US dollar has fallen in value more than 40% to the EURO. Depending on which report you believe in, US Total Debt (defined as the sum of all recognized debt of federal, state & local governments, international, private households, business and domestic financial sectors, including federal debt to trust funds - but excludes the huge contingent liabilities of social security, government pensions, Medicare and other government off-budget items) could be hovering around US48 trillion or USD160,000 for every man, woman and child in America. America has become a nation of debtors. Even the 'aid' that the USA gives to poor nations comes out of DEBT! This speaks volumes..

(4) In 2006, Sweden gave 1.03% of Gross National Product (GNP) as foreign aid. This nation gave the largest amount of aid as a percentage of its GNP. Netherlands stood at 0.81% and was no.4. The UK gave 0.52% and was no.7. The French gave 0.47% and came no.10. Australia was no.15 on the list giving 0.3%. Canada also gave 0.3% and share the 15th placing. Japan came as no.18 with 0.25%. Italy gave 0.2% and was no.20. The USA gave only 0.17% and came no.21 and most of USA ' aid' went to one nation “ Iraq "..(well somebody's got to patch up all the bullet holes and buildings destroyed?) These are from OECD Development Statistics online as of April 7th 2007.

(5) American health care spending is climbing at 7% annually- faster than the rate of economic growth. In 2000, 40 million Americans went uninsured. By 2004, 46 million Americans went uninsured. 21% of all working-adults in America have unpaid medical debts that they are slowly paying off. More than half (51%) of uninsured adults reported medical debt or bill problems. Of those, nearly half (49%) used up all their savings to pay their bills. Two of five were unable to pay for basic necessities like food, heat, or rent because of medical bills. This is hardly the case in other developed countries.

(6) Deutsche Bank analysts said on Bloomberg.com that losses from the falling value of sub-prime mortgage assets may reach USD300-400 billion. The prophecies of doom and gloom that you've been prophesying about do seem to be taking place gradually. As a scientist myself, I go by facts as well as by the Spirit's leading (as a Christian) and the facts do seem to tell a story.

(7) According to Victor Strasburger MD of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, America has the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in the Western world. One million teens are expected to become pregnant in the next 12 months of which 95% are unintended and 1/3 will end in abortion and another 1/3 in spontaneous miscarriage. Facts also tell a story “ not only tell-a-vision!
